Alex clark Memorial

John and Roberta Clark’s son, Alex, was killed in an automobile accident just a few weeks before his graduation from McKinney High School in May 2000. Alex had always been an avid disc golfer so it was a natural for the Clarks to choose the city’s disc golf course for Alex’s memorial service. In line with that, memorial donations were used to enhance the course and build a memorial statue. The city then chose to rename the course the Alex Clark Memorial Disc Golf Course. Nestled in trees, Alex’s memorial course is a favorite place for disc golfers to enjoy year round.

the clarks became award of another way to honor their son’s memory through the McKinney Education Foundation – a permanently endowed memorial scholarship in Alex’s name. An initial gift from the Clarks set up the endowed scholarship fund with gifts from other friends and family adding to the fund. Knowing their son’s interest had been to pursue some from of a medial career, the Clark’s determined they would like his dream to live on in assisting other young people in pursuing careers int he medial field.

The purpose of this endowment is to fund scholarships to qualifying graduates of the McKinney Independent School District planning to pursue medial careers.

Below is a list of criteria that is considered favorable for this scholarship.

  • Shall be pursuing a medical career

  • Shall have been a clinical rotation class participant

  • Input from the teacher of the clinical rotation class will help determine selection
