MNHS Gridiron Club in Memory of Austin York and Matthew Self

Mckinney north high school gridiron club – in memory of austin york and matthew self

Gifts to the Permanently Endowed Gridiron Scholarship fund, which was started in 2004, were made through the efforts of the Gridiron Club with memorial donations for Matt Self and Austin York. These two well-respected football players that contributed to the MNHS team were crime victims and their unexpected deaths affected the McKinney community tremendously. As a response to the loss of these two young men, the community gave a large number of memorial gifts. With approval of the two young men’s parents, the memorials were the corpus for this endowed fund. The one stipulation made by the parents was that the two awards always bear the names of Matthew Self and Austin York respectively.
