minshew family endowment
The Gary and Bobbye Jack Minshew Endowed Scholarship Fund was started in April of 2005 with the intent of building a scholarship fund to honor a student who attended 12 years of school in the McKinney Independent School District, beginning their education at Minshew Elementary School. Recognizing it would be twelve years from the date of staring the scholarship before the first scholarship would be awarded is a testimonial to the vision and insight of the Minshews. Those initial twelve years allow the scholarship fund to grow and become financially sound as the future recipients grow and receive their elementary, junior high and high school education in the McKinney school system.
Accumulated income from the Minshew Scholarship Fund, a Permanently Endowed Scholarship Fund, may be awarded annually to current year graduates of Mckinney ISD who meet current graduation requirements and are awarded the McKinney ISD high school diploma.
Below is a list of criteria that is considered favorable for this scholarship:

Student have started kindergarten and continued all succeeding years at Minshew elementary, attended a McKinney ISD middle school and a McKinney ISD high school

Academic achievement is a strong criteria for selection and class rank will be considered

Outstanding character and participation in extra curricular activities will be considered

Preference will be given to a student who has expressed an interest in teaching or education as a career

Exemplify strong spiritual values

Monetary need will be considered only after the above criteria
