The Trade and Industrial Vocational classes, under the leadership of past and present instructors, have decided to use the proceeds from student services and sales accumulated over a 30-year period to fund a permanently endowed scholarship through the McKinney Education Foundation (MEF). These funds consist of proceeds received for the services of many classes of students in the McKinney community over the years.

This permanently endowed scholarship’s purpose is to perpetuate and honor those students who intend to pursue careers relating to the Trade and Industrial class taken while in McKinney ISD schools. Trade and Industrial classes include: Auto Mechanics I or II, Building Trades I and II, Cosmetology, Drafting I and II, Electrical Trades, and Metal Trades.

Below is a list of criteria that is considered favorable for this scholarship.

  • Student must be pursuing a secondary education or training in the construction industry. The scholarship may be used for vocational schools, trade schools, community colleges and public universities. The scholarship is available for graduates of all McKinney ISD high schools

  • Must finish in the top 50% of their graduating class of any/all McKinney ISD high schools

  • An additional essay may be required in addition to the required MEF application explaining why the student deserves the scholarship;arship award and how it will assist the student achieve his/her educational goals in the construction industry

  • Student must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States

  • Preference will be given to a student that has been enrolled in Building Trades for two years or is a direct descendant of a former student that was enrolled in McKinney ISD Building Trades for two years. Proof by transcript is required.
