Applying for Grants

The McKinney Education Foundation (MEF) is committed to supporting the educational excellence of McKinney Independent School District (MISD) teachers and their classrooms. The MEF Classroom Grant Program provides funding to MISD classrooms for innovative projects, programs, or initiatives that enhance student learning and achievement.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants: MISD teachers
  • Schools: All MISD schools and classrooms are eligible

Grant Process:

  1. Application Period: August 1 – September 22, 2025
  • Applications will be accepted through AwardSpring, an online grant management system.
  1. Application Requirements:
  • Complete online application in AwardSpring
  • Provide a detailed project proposal, including:
    • Project goals and objectives
    • Budget breakdown
    • Timeline
  • Attach supporting documents (as required)
  1. Scoring and Evaluation:
  • A committee will review and score applications based on:
    • Alignment with MEF’s donors mission and goals (20 points)
    • Project innovation and creativity (20 points)
    • Potential impact on student learning and achievement (30 points)
    • Budget justification and feasibility (30 points)
  1. Funding:
  • The MEF has limited funds available for this grant program.
  • Grants will be awarded based on the scoring and evaluation process.

Access to AwardSpring, MEF’s online grant management system, Will Open on August 1st and a link to AwardSpring will be available then for you to complete the following: 

  1. Create an Account: Create one by visiting AwardSpring and following the registration process.
  2. Access the Application: Log in to your AwardSpring account and access the MEF Teacher Grant Program application.
  3. Complete the Application: Carefully complete the application, providing all required information and supporting documents.

Timeline:

  • August 1: Applications open in AwardSpring
  • September 15: Applications close
  • October: Applications reviewed and scored
  • December: Grant awards announced

  • Plan ahead: Develop a well-thought-out project proposal and budget.
  • Be concise: Clearly and concisely describe your project and its impact.
  • Proofread: Carefully review your application for errors and completeness.
